The Asian Rugby Football Union (ARFU) is pleased to announce a new partnership with Safehotels Alliance AB. The partnership was signed at the recent ARFU Asian Sevens Series tournament in Hong Kong.

The partnership will see ARFU team up with Safehotels Alliance to help keep travellers safe by contributing to the Safehotels Alliance evaluation process for hotels seeking to attain its proprietary Global Hotel Security Standard certification.

Safehotels Alliance AB was founded in Sweden in 2001 and launched in 2002 to address the rising concerns amongst corporate travellers around safety standards within the international hotel and meeting industry.

To help meet the growing concerns of organizations with hotel security, Safehotels created an objective third party evaluation of business hotel and conference venues’ security standards worldwide. The comprehensive evaluation process covers all of the important aspects of hotel and conference security.

Safehotels created its “Global Hotel Security Standard”© to meet this need for measuring hotel and conference security and to match the demand of business travelers’ for greater understanding of a hotel’s security standard. The Global Hotel Security Standard incorporates independent evaluations from travellers and partner organisations into its analysis of hotel and conference properties worldwide.

Mr Hans Kanold, Chief Executive Officer for Safehotels Alliance AB, commented on the partnership, saying:

“Safehotels Alliance is honoured to partner with the Asian Rugby Football Union. Today, global sport is big business. As such organizations like ARFU share the same concerns as other industries around the safety of its athletes and teams.

“ARFU has demonstrated its concern for the safety of its athletes and officials by partnering with Safehotels Alliance to ensure that it uses hotels that have been through a third party audit and received a Safehotels Certificate – demonstrating a hotel’s consistent approach to security best practices.

“Partnering with ARFU will make a statement not only to the Asian Rugby family but also for the global sporting fraternity and the hotel and conference industry that hotels which invest in their guests’ safety will benefit and become a preferred partner to premier associations like ARFU around the world.

“Through this innovative relationship with Safehotels Alliance, ARFU now becomes a leader in ensuring the adoption of consistent safety standards around its events in the region,” Added Mr Hans Kanold, CEO and Chairman of the Safehotels Alliance Board of directors.

As part of its sponsorship agreement, the Asian Rugby Football Union will contribute to the evaluation process for hotels seeking to attain the Global Hotel Security Standard.

ARFU is an ideal partner for Safehotels Alliance. As the governing body for Rugby in the region, ARFU hosts over 30 tournaments per season, moving over 4,000 players and officials around the 29 member nations of the Asian Rugby Football Union on an annual basis.

ARFU will leverage its familiarity with a wide variety of hotels across Asia to provide a key role in evaluating hotel chains around the region to assist in the development and extend the footprint of Safehotels’ Global Hotel Security Standard across the region.

Mr Trevor Gregory, President of the Asian Rugby Football Union said, “The safety of our players and officials is the highest priority for the Asian Rugby Football Union. Partnering with Safehotels Alliance AB will assist ARFU in ensuring that the official hotels we use for tournaments share this paramount concern.

“Our strong geographical reach and the high numbers of athletes and officials we house across Asia positions us strongly to contribute to the Safehotels Alliance evaluation of regional hotels. We look forward to teaming up with Safehotels Alliance to ensure the safest possible conditions for business travellers in the region,” Mr Gregory added.
