An immaculate year as a Test & ODI batsman saw Angelo Mathews reap the Dialog Cricketer of the Year prize at the Dialog Sri Lanka Cricket Awards 2015 held on 19th October at Water’s Edge, Grand Ballroom.
Sri Lanka’s ODI & Test skipper, Mathews faced stiff competition from Kumar Sangakkara and Rangana Herath for the award but ultimately bagged the top prize for the second consecutive year.

Captain Marvel – Mathews has been in tremendous form throughout last 12 months and his consistency with the bat was rewarded with Best Batsman awards in both Test & ODI formats while he was also named Best ODI all-rounder.

Recently-retired batting legend, Kumar Sangakkara bagged the Dialog People’s Player of the Year once again for the 4th consecutive time and he won the same award for the 6th occasion in the short 7-year history of this national cricket awards ceremony. The left-handed batting maestro has also won the ICC’s People’s Choice award in 2011 and 2012.

“Thank you for your love and support. I am humbled and privileged to win this award. The public of Sri Lanka has been an inspiration at all times for us to play our best.”

Sangakkara said after winning the prestigious Dialog People’s Player of the Year award.
