Lions Club Ambalangoda won major honors at the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Technical Officials Association Sea Swim held on 12th January 2014.
The Event was organized by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Techinival Officials Association. The event was divided in to 3 categories; 5KM swim for Open Category and a 1KM swim for swimmers between the age from 14 to 16 and for 1KM for Men and Women over 40 years. The 5KM swim began from Mount Lavinia and ended at Wellawatta while the 1KM swim was at the Wellawatta beach.
Lions Club Ambalangoda swept off the 5KM men’s event winning all podium positions and S. Tharindu Udayanga was crowned as men’s champion. Long distance specialist K. Imesha Sewwandi won the women’s 5km.
Dilanka Shehan of Nalanda College and Janethree Devranga Kulawardhana of Visakha Vidyalaya won the men’s and women’s under 14-16 1km sea swim respectively.
Nimal Hettiarachchi of Kinross Club Wellawatta and Soraya Hasan of Sri Lanka Airlines won the men’s and women’s 1km over 40 sea swim respectively.
Lions Club Ambalangoda was crowned as overall champions for the 5km open sea swim event. While Ananda College won the Junior Championship.
