Hameed Al Husseinie subjugated Lumbini College, Colombo as they maintained their hundred percent record to win 6-1 in a group A clash of the U19 Division I, worked off at P.D.Sirisena grounds.

The Hameedians walked into this tie after a pedestrian 2nd half against Ananda College even though they won 4-0. Lumbini College on the flip side eased passed a lackluster Ananda College themselves by a 6-0 score.

Hameedians maul hapless Ananda

Hameed Al Husseinie College took another step towards booking their semi-final spot in the U19 Division I Football Championship.

Hameedian’s playing on home soil started off on the front foot pegging their visitors back. After a few close shaves during the opening three to four minutes, Hameed Al Husseinie finally struck gold in the 6th minute when skipper Mohomed Aman had a simple matter of a tap in.

They kept piling the pressure on their opponents as they added a second in no time when Mohomed Shaheed slotted the ball into an unguarded net in the 17th minute.

Lumbini pulled one back completely against the run of play as a rare defensive error by the Hameedians cost them a clean sheet when Mohomed Fahad capitalized in the 22nd minute.

However, it made very little difference to the Hameedian onslaught as they went on to restore their two goal advantage a minute later and then went onto cement their authority with a three goal cushion just before the break.

Half time – Hameed Al Husseinie 4 – 1 Lumbini College

The second half saw the bite and the intensity shown by the Hameedians reduce as it paved the way for a lackluster spell of football.

Despite that Hameedians still managed to sneak in a fifth goal in the 45th minute when Aman bagged his brace. It was a matter of helter skelter from both teams from that point onwards with Lumbini hardly forcing bodies forward.

Yet again Lumbini found a bit of luck as one of their forwards was fouled inside the Hameedian penalty area to be handed a spot kick. It was a disappointing conversion by Malinga Madushan who flared his effort wide with Mahendran Dinesha hardly breaking a sweat between the sticks.

Skipper Aman capped off a good day the office with an impressive 62nd minute hat trick as Lumbini College were left in shambles at back.

Hameedians gathered much needed momentum ahead of the crunch game against Zahira College, Colombo as the age old rivals meet in the next group A tie game. It will be nothing short of excitement and drama as the old foes will rekindle their tale to decide the potential winner of group A.
