DS Senanayake College dominated proceedings on day 2 against St. Aloysius College, Galle after enforcing a following on as they bagged well deserved first innings points in their group C clash in Pannipitiya.

Earlier batting first, the Senanaites piled on a staggering 306 all out led by Pasindu Chanaka’s 70 ably supported by Teron Baskaran and Mudith Lakshan. In response, the Aloysians were dismal with the bat as Mudith Lakshan ran through their line up with figures of 4/51 toppling the visitors for a mere 169.

After enforcing the follow-on it was the Mudith Lakshan show again as he did one better from his previous innings figures as he scalped 5/76. The visitors hung by the skin of their teeth to save the game thanks to a Navindu Nirmal unbeaten half century.

Royal College v Ananda College

Royal College, Colombo were humbled by a brilliant batting display as they bowling frailties were exposed ones again as they lost first innings honours in their traditional encounter worked off at the Ananda College grounds.

Batting first after being put in by the hosts, Royal College mustered a respectable 221 all out thanks to yet another Kavindu Madarasinghe masterclass. Skipper Helitha contributed to the cause ones again helping carry his team to their final total.

In response the Anandians were merciless as Kavindu Gimhana, Dushan Hettige and Kavishka Anjula piled on half tons to steamroll the hosts to first innings honours. Himesh Ramanayake fought a lone fight as he capped 3/71 for the Royalists.

Kavindu Madarasinghe continued his run scoring fiasco as he scored yet another unbeaten half ton to end day 2 for the Royalists on a high at 154/5.

Prince of Wales College v St.Peter’s College

The Peterites made fair weather of Prince of Wales challenge as they grabbed first innings honours in their traditional encounter worked off at Bambalapitiya today.

Batting first after winning the toss the Moratuwa lads marched to a well constructed 230/9 declared as Avinda Fernando stroked a masterful half ton for the visiting team. Miflal Ameen came to the party ones again for the hosts as he bagged yet another five for in an impressive season for the young spinner.

The Peterites showed their batting prowess in their response as Vinul Gunawardana and Santhush Gunathilake stroked elegant half centuries to ease past the Cambrian total as they mustered 249/8 declared.

Prince of Wales, in their second lease at the wicket ended day 2 at 102/6 with Miflal Ameen chipping in with a couple of more wickets to round of an impressive game overall.

De Mazenod College counter punched Banadarayake College, Gampaha as they over turned their first innings advantage to win first innings points cancelling out an unbeaten ton by Arosha Madushan for the latter.

Roshitha Senevirathne and Dineth Fernando made impressive half tons for the hosts as they bagged a punch in their home turf to win well deserved points. The Gampaha lads ended day 2 at 51/4 giving bragging rights for the Mazenodian lads.
