Ahead of the Dialog Rugby League that will kick off next month, the Air Force Sports Club and domestic Champions, Kandy Sports Club team will be making it to Doha, Qatar to meet the Doha Rugby Football Club for a friendly Rugby encounter.
The Champions, Kandy SC and the Dialog Knock-out runner-up Air Force SC, will start off their pre-season games in Doha, at the city’s’ Rugby Football Club Grounds.
This two-legged friendly is played annually between the Doha RFC and two Sri Lankan Clubs, in order to build better relationships and uplift the standards in rugby. Last year, CH & FC and Navy SC were the two teams that made it to Doha and locked horns with the former West Asia Premiership Championship winning team.
However, CH & FC and Navy SC were able to secure wins which was a definite booster as they began their run in the DRL 2018/19.
The first match will be played on the 11th of October between Doha RFC and Sri Lanka Air Force SC. Nigel Ratwatte’s Kandy team will be tested a week later (18th October) at the same venue, the Doha Rugby Football Club.
Air Force who surprised the entire rugby fraternity in the latter part of the concluded club rugby season, are sure to put the home team in a tough spot, whilst Kandy SC fielding the most experienced and star-studded outfit, will surely be looking for a win.
