Mr. K. D.S. Ruwanchandra has been appointed as the new Director General of the Department of Sports Development of the Ministry of Sports.
He is a Special Grade Officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative service who has served in several public institutions. Ministry of Public Administration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Law and Order, Ministry of Plantation and Ministry of Public Management Reforms are among those institutions.
Mr. Ruwanchandra also serves as an adviser to the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administrations (SLIDA) for nearly five years. He is also a senior officer who worked at Sri Lankan embassy in China and several Divisional Secretariats throughout the country. Mr. Ruwanchandra has obtained is basic degree on Public Administration (Special) from the University of Sri Jayawardenapura and Masters Degree from the Singapore National University. Prior to assuming duties his current position he served at the Ministry of Policy Planning, Economic, Child and Youth Affairs and Cultural as an Additional Secretary.
