Karakal-Emperor Open Squash Championship conducted and organized by Sri Lanka Squash Federation will be staged from 22nd February to 1st March at the Tamil Union Squash Complex.
The tournament is considered a National Ranking tournament and all the top ranked Squash players are expected to participate.
Dilshan Gunawardena, Ravindu Laksiri and Gihan Suwaris will be the top contestants for the Men’s Open event while the current junior and senior National Champion Ravindu Laksiri will be top favorite to clinch the Men’s Open title. Dilshan Gunawardena who went down against Ravindu in the Senior National Championship final last year and Gihan Suwaris who was the Champion at the Air Force Open squash Championship will certainly provide stiff opposition.
Mihiliya Methsarani and Naduni Gunawardena will be the top contestants for the Women’s Open event. Mihiliya who had being performing really well both in the domestic and international Squash arena will be the top favorite.
In the junior events Shamil Wakeel, Udantha Hewage,Senindu Induwara Dharmathilaka,Druwinka Perera Mohomed Asmone,Heshan Balasooriya,Methmal Wood and Mohomed Hakim are expected to perform well in their respective age groups in the boys category
Fathoum Issadeen,Wasundara Suwaris, Kasuni Gunawardena, Saduni Gunawardena, Sameera Deen, Chanithma Sinaly and Devmini Gallage are expected to perform well in their respective age groups in the girls category.
