India registered a massive victory over Sri Lanka in the second semi-final of the Men’s Cricket Competition at the Asian Games 2026 in Japan, securing their place in the final.
Having won the toss, Sri Lanka skipper Sahan Arachchige opted to bowl first and invited India to bat.
India posted a strong total of 169 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs, with Ishan Kishan leading the way with a brilliant 80 off 46 balls. His innings included four fours and five sixes.

Sri Lanka’s spinners Sahan Arachchige and Tharindu Rathnayake claimed two wickets each, but India maintained a strong scoring rate throughout their innings to set Sri Lanka a challenging target.
In reply, Sri Lanka endured a disastrous outing with the bat and were bowled out for just 45 runs. None of the Sri Lankan batters managed to make a significant contribution as India’s bowling attack dominated from the outset.
Abhishek Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel claimed two wickets each for India as they bowled Sri Lanka out in a comprehensive victory.
With the defeat, Sri Lanka will now face Bangladesh in the Bronze Medal match on 3rd October, while India advance to the final of the Asian Games 2026 Men’s Cricket Competition.
