Sri Lanka registered a comfortable victory over Indonesia in the sixth match of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026, played today (2nd September) in Dubai.
After winning the toss, Indonesia opted to bowl first, inviting Sri Lanka to set the target. Sri Lanka made one change to their playing XI, bringing in Kawya Kavindi in place of Mithali Ayodhya.

Sri Lanka endured a difficult outing with the bat as their top-order batters failed to make a significant impact against the inexperienced Indonesian bowling attack. However, No. 6 batter Nilakshika Silva stood tall amid the collapse, producing a vital half-century to rescue Sri Lanka and take them to a respectable 124/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
Silva top-scored with a fighting 50 off 35 deliveries, including three fours and a six, anchoring the Sri Lankan innings when they were in trouble.
For Indonesia, Ni Luh Dewi was the standout bowler, claiming three wickets for 32 runs.
Indonesia’s chase never got going as Sri Lanka’s bowlers ripped through their batting lineup, bowling them out for just 49 runs to seal a comprehensive 75-run victory.
The standout performer was skipper Chamari Athapaththu, who made up for her failure with the bat by producing a sensational spell with the ball.
Athapaththu returned remarkable figures of 7/5 from 3.3 overs, recording the best-ever bowling figures in Sri Lanka Women’s T20I cricket history.
Her figures also stand as the best bowling performance by a player from a Full Member nation in Women’s T20Is.
Athapaththu completed her historic spell in spectacular fashion, claiming three wickets with the final three deliveries of her spell to register a hat-trick. With the feat, she became the first Sri Lankan woman to take a hat-trick in Women’s T20Is.
