Galle Gallants registered their second consecutive win in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026 as they defeated Colombo Kaps by five wickets in the third match of the tournament, played today (18th July) at the SSC Grounds in Colombo.

Having been put into bat first, Colombo Kaps posted a competitive total of 189 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs, led by an outstanding innings from skipper Kusal Mendis.

The Colombo Kaps captain top scored with a brilliant 79 runs off 53 deliveries, including two fours and seven sixes, while Ben McDermott provided valuable support with a well-crafted half-century. McDermott scored 57 runs off 34 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes.

The pair combined for a crucial 97-run partnership off 63 deliveries for the fourth wicket, helping Colombo Kaps recover and build a strong total.

In reply, Galle Gallants chased down the target with five wickets in hand, thanks to an excellent knock scored by Sam Harper at the top order.

The Australian opener set the tone for the chase with a quickfire 65 runs off 45 balls, striking six fours and three sixes. Sahan Arachchige then played a match-winning finishing role, anchoring the chase with an unbeaten 38 off just 16 deliveries, including seven boundaries.

Galle Gallants reached the target comfortably to secure their second victory in as many matches, continuing their unbeaten start to the LPL 2026 campaign.
