The 50th National Age Group Swimming Championships, organized by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU), are set to ignite the waters of the Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex from the 2nd to the 6th of April, 2026. As one of the most prestigious events on the national aquatic calendar, this golden jubilee edition marks five decades of nurturing Sri Lanka’s finest swimming talent. The meet serves as a critical platform for athletes to post qualifying times for international competitions and solidify their rankings within the national circuit.
The competition arrives on the heels of a season defined by fierce rivalries and record-breaking performances. St. Joeseph’s College, enters the meet as the heavy favorite. Having recently clinched the championship title, the Josephians continue to demonstrate the depth and discipline that has made them a powerhouse in school and national-level swimming. While in the Lyceum International School, Wattala, remains the team to beat. Their dominant performance in the women’s category has established them as a formidable force, consistently producing top-tier athletes who excel across multiple age groups.
In the span of five days, the championships will feature 1,312 of swimmers competing across various age groups, from Under-11 to the Open category. With the Sugathadasa swimming pool complex providing a world-class backdrop, fans can expect entertaining races, particularly in the relay events where team strategy often tips the scales.
