Negombo Youth, Serendib and Solid secured wins while Super Sun & Pelicans played out a goalless draw in matchweek six of the Sri Lanka Football Champions League at the Racecourse International Stadium.
SLTB v Negombo Youth
Negombo Youth came from a goal down to win 3-1 against SLTB in a Group A encounter in the Sri Lanka Football Champions League at the Racecourse Stadium.
After conceding 27 goals from their 5 previous games without scoring any, SLTB finally found the back of the goal with former Sri Lanka cap Shanmugaraja Sanjeev scoring a long ranger in the 9th minute.
The joy was short-lived as Sulakshana Peiris equalized for Negombo Youth in the 14th minute. The score remained the same till half time.

After the break Negombo Youth took control of the game. Mohamed Akim gave Youth the lead in the 55th minute. Mohamed Rifkhan, continuing his scoring form, added the 3rd in the 63rd minute and secured the first win for Negombo Youth.

Super Sun v Pelicans
Super Sun and Pelicans played out an entertaining 0-0 draw in the Sri Lanka Football Champions League at the Racecourse Stadium.
Super Sun came into the game desperate for the three points to stay alive for a place in the Super 8’s. They struggled in the early going while Pelicans had the two best chances just before half time. One fell for Kumara Kevinash and the other for Danil Musatkin, which he missed from point blank range.

After the break, Super Sun pushed men forward in search of the win but Mensah Stephen led Pelicans defence held firm to come away with a point.

Crystal Palace v Serendib
Serendib were made to work hard to get a 4-1 win against Crystal Palace in a Group A encounter in the Sri Lanka Football Champions League at the Racecourse Stadium.
Frimpong Yaw scored the opener in the 8th minute for Serendib before a depleted Crystal Palace equalized through a Michael Acquaye header in the 13th minute. Vijayakumar Abishan restored the lead for the men from Mawanella in the 23rd minute.
Serendib were soon reduced to 10-men when Odoom Enock was sent off after receiving his 2nd yellow card. A minute after going down to 10-men, Serendib made it 3-1 with Abishan adding his 2nd.

Even with an extra man Crystal Palace were unable to control the game and struggled in attack and defense. Frimpong Yaw put the game to bed in the 65th minute with a thunderous strike from 25 yards out.

Matara City v Solid
Solid defeated Matara City 4-0 in a Group B encounter in the Sri Lanka Football Champions League at the Racecourse Stadium.
Solid captain Gnanaruban Vinoth scored the first in the 18th minute taking advantage of a mistake at the back. The lads from Anuradhapura doubled the lead just before half time through A. Alexan.
Half Time: Matara City 0 – 2 Solid
Gnanaruban scored a penalty in the 76th minute after goalkeeper Mohamed Arshad fouled Henry Chibueze inside the box. Substitute Adelakun Adeolu added the 4th two minutes from time.
