Himira Kudagama produced a standout all-round performance to steal the spotlight in the drawn Tier B encounter between Ananda College, Colombo and Isipathana College, Colombo in the U19 Inter-Schools Division 1 Two-Day Cricket Tournament 2025/26, which ended today (January 13) at the Ananda College Grounds, Colombo.
Asked to bat first, Ananda College declared their first innings on 204 for 9, with Kudagama playing a crucial hand with the bat. The all-rounder top-scored for the hosts with a composed 43, while Binara Umayanga provided valuable support with a well-made 39, helping Ananda reach a competitive total on a bowler-friendly surface.

In reply, Isipathana College posted 110 runs for 5 wickets for their first innings. Kudagama once again led from the front, producing an incisive spell to claim 4 wickets for 23 runs, dismantling the Isipathana top order.
Meanwhile, the traditional encounter between Maris Stella College, Negombo and St. Aloysius’ College, Galle also got underway today at the Army Grounds, Karandeniya.
Batting first, Maris Stella College posted a solid 270 runs in their first innings, built around a fluent 78 from Kavith De Silva, who anchored the innings with confidence. Despite the strong total, St. Aloysius’ College fought back impressively with the ball, as Oshadha Devinda and Dulsath Nimviru shared the honours by claiming four wickets each, preventing Maris Stella from posting an even larger score.

In reply, St. Aloysius’ College ended Day 1 on a steady note, reaching 54 for 2 at stumps, as both teams look to push for ascendancy on the second day of the contest.
