Six matches in the sixth week of the SLC Major Club 3-Day League 2025/26 concluded today (11th January), with Bloomfield Cricket & Athletic Club emerging as the only team to register an outright victory, while the remaining five encounters ended in draws.
Bloomfield produced a remarkable turnaround in their Group A encounter against Police Sports Club at the P. Sara Oval Grounds, Colombo. After conceding a 92-run first-innings deficit, Bloomfield bounced back strongly in the second innings before pulling off a stunning defence of just 134 runs in the final innings.

The victory was set up by the brilliance of Bloomfield’s spin twins, Jeffrey Vandersay and Ravindu Fernando, who shared the spoils with five-wicket hauls apiece. Their relentless accuracy and variation proved too much for the Police batting lineup, as Bloomfield completed a thrilling outright win against the odds.
Although the other five matches ended without a result, the week still witnessed several outstanding individual performances across the grounds.
Wanuja Sahan was among the standout performers, producing a magnificent century for Ace Capital Cricket Club against Badureliya Sports Club. Batting with authority and composure, Sahan compiled a superb 153 off 211 deliveries, striking 12 fours and four sixes, anchoring his side’s innings with a commanding display.
Meanwhile, Pavan Rathnayake of Colombo Cricket Club delivered a special batting effort in their encounter against Panadura Sports Club, scoring centuries in both innings. Rathnayake’s consistency and temperament underlined his importance to the CCC batting unit and marked one of the finest individual feats of the week.
On the bowling front, Dushan Vimukthi was the pick of the bowlers, returning impressive match figures of 7 for 87 for Panadura SC. His disciplined spell kept Colombo CC in check and stood out despite the drawn result.
Adding to the list of notable bowling performances, Chamod Battage claimed a fine six-wicket haul for Ace Capital CC, playing a key role in keeping his side competitive in their drawn encounter.
