The wrestling battles of the 49th National Sports Festival, which was organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports with the collaboration of the Department of Sports Development, concluded successfully at the Indoor Sports Complex, University of Kelaniya. After an action-packed tournament, the North Western Province women and Western Province men showcased their strength and dominance on the wrestling mat to secure the championships from the respective categories.
The overall championship went to the Western Province who secured a medal bag of 10 gold, 04 silver and 07 bronze medals. Further, wrestlers from North Western and Central Provinces displayed their skill and courage to secure the second and third places respectively.

Representing Western Province, MT Dakshika emerged as the most outstanding male player of the event while MWDMP Kumari of North Western Province had the same honours in the women’s category.
