Colombo Cricket Club (CCC) delivered a masterclass performance to clinch the SLC Major Clubs 50 Over Tournament 2025, overpowering Police Sports Club in a one-sided final at the CCC Grounds in Colombo.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, CCC faced early trouble as right-arm seamer Charuka Pramod struck twice, reducing them to a precarious 25/2.
However, opener Nishan Madushka and middle-order batter Kamindu Mendis steadied the ship with a crucial 130-run partnership for the third wicket. Madushka’s composed 88 and Mendis’ stylish 59 laid a solid foundation, showcasing resilience and skill to counter the early setbacks.

Just when Police SC sensed a comeback, Pavan Rathnayake and Sonal Dinusha unleashed a game-changing 190-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
Rathnayake, in particular, stole the show, smashing an unbeaten 158 off just 94 balls – his highest List A score. His blistering knock, studded with 13 fours and 9 sixes, was a display of raw power and precision, leaving the opposition bowlers helpless.
Dinusha complemented him with a steady 53 as CCC posted a mammoth total – 387/5 that set the tone for the match.

Chasing a daunting target, Police SC struggled from the outset against CCC’s disciplined bowling attack. Despite a fighting 57 off 56 balls from Priyamal Perera, which included 5 fours and a six, their innings never gained momentum.
CCC’s left-arm spinner Inuka Karannagoda proved to be the wrecker-in-chief, claiming an impressive 4 wickets for just 32 runs. His guile and accuracy dismantled Police SC’s batting lineup, bowling them out for a mere 200 runs, well short of the target.
