Another thrilling edition of “Asian Paints Causeway Walawa Supercross – 2025” was held at the Craftsman Auto Drome gravel track in Sevanagala, Udawalawa, on 13th July 2025. This was the first instance where the racing event has been launched after the last edition took place way back in 2019. The extravagant event was organized by the Sri Lanka Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) in collaboration with the Southern Motor Sports Club.

Nearly 200 racing stars in the country were featured in the renowned racing event, while a large gathering of spectators flocked to the Craftsman Auto Drome track to witness the breathtaking races. Over 180 local racing stars in the field of motor racing took part in the mega event, which comprised 24 racing segments over the gravel track. A notable aspect of this tournament was the inclusion of a few amateur races for minor age categories (5 years – 9 years, 9 years – 12 years, under 15 years), adding a dimension of youth involvement in motorsport.

One of Sri Lanka’s top motor racers from Mahanama College, Ashan Silva emerged as the champion once more by competing in the Group GT SLGT Cars up to 3500cc races where the automobiles with the highest cylinder capacity were featured.

Meanwhile, Jacques Gunawardane made a bold statement by clinching the best rider title by competing from the elite segment of the motorbikes, Group MX over 175cc up to 250cc (4T) and the 100cc up to 125cc (2T) MX segments.

The same duo emerged as the champions of the recently concluded “Mahameruwa Rallycross” and stamped their supremacy in style in this edition too.

The Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo, was the chief guest of the glorious event, which was graced by the presence of other higher-ranked Army officers and a few other distinguished guests.
