The 13th Defense Services Wushu Championship 2024/2025 was successfully concluded at the Sri Lanka Army Mahinda Rajapaksa Indoor Gymnasium, Sinha Regimental Center, Ambepussa, from the 2nd to the 4th of June 2025. The Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Air Force, and Sri Lanka Navy competed for glory in this triangular championship.

After three action-packed days filled with thrilling bouts and unexpected upsets, the Air Force Women’s Wushu team emerged victorious, clinching the title with an impressive haul of three gold medals, three silver medals, and six bronze medals, surpassing both the Navy and the Army.

The Navy Women’s team secured second place, delivering another spectacular performance by earning four gold medals, two silver medals, and two bronze medals. Although the contest for first place was close, the Army Women’s team fell short of expectations and had to settle for third place.

The tournament featured both versions of Wushu:

TAOLU, which includes martial arts patterns, acrobatic movements, and techniques, and

SANDA, the contact fighting discipline.

The Chairman of Sri Lanka Army Wushu, Brigadier C.S. Thibbatuge, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Also in attendance were Air Commodore Sulochana Marapperuma, Chairman of SLAF Wushu; officials from the Sri Lanka Wushu Federation; senior officers of the Sri Lanka Army and Navy; and other distinguished guests, marking a grand conclusion to the event.
