The Women’s Asia Cup is set to be held in Sylhet, Bangladesh from the 1st to the 16th of October, as reported by ESPNCricinfo.

Seven teams are scheduled to participate in the tournament, namely, the hosts Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia and the UAE. The official schedule of matches for the tournament are yet to be announced. Malaysia and the UAE made it through to main event courtesy their performance in the 10-team qualifier in June, where they were the finalists.

The tournament which usually takes place every two years, was last held in 2018, with the 2020 edition, which was scheduled to be held in Bangladesh, being postponed to 2021 as a result of the pandemic and eventually cancelled altogether.

Bangladesh are the defending Champions, after pulling off a massive upset against the most successful team in the history of the competition, India, in the Final in Kuala Lumpur in 2018, sparking wild celebrations.

The competition will be in the T20 format.
