The Schools Rugby Knockout Tournament was first played back in 1978 with S Thomas’ beating Isipathana in the final. Thereafter the tournament was named the R. Premadasa Knockout Schools Tournament and was played under lights at the Sugathadasa Stadium. Isipathana College leads the tally with 10 wins followed by St. Peter’s and S. Thomas’ College who have 5 wins each.
