Over 1000 Shuttlers will vie for honours at the 71st Nationals Badminton Championships which begin on December 04th and run until December 10th 2023. Organised by Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB), the Championship promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent while a prize pool of Rupees two million will be up for grabs.

The Tournament features a compelling schedule of events at the Sri Lanka Badminton Indoor Courts, Mercantile Badminton Association Indoor Courts and D.S. Senanayake College Badminton Indoor Courts.

Sri Lanka Badminton said that there has been unprecedented enthusiasm among Players as the Sport’s Governing Body had received an impressive number of entries when the same was closed on November 24th 2023.

The Main Draw Seeding was determined based on Sri Lanka Badminton Ranking as of today (November 28th ). The Draw will take place at 11:00 am on 30th  November  2023,, at No 2, Cambridge Terrace, Colombo 07.

The Inauguration Ceremony is scheduled for Monday, 04th December, kicking off a series of events starting with the Preliminary Rounds. The days following, from December 05th  to 07th , will be filled with intense Preliminary Rounds, building up to the pinnacle on December 08th, with the Round of 16 and Quarterfinals. The excitement persists on Saturday, December 09th, featuring the highly anticipated Semi-Finals and additional Quarterfinal Matches. The grand finale is reserved for Sunday, December 10th, hosting all the Finals, and concluding with the Closing Ceremony to mark the end of this prestigious Badminton Championship.

The Championships will encompass a diverse range of events, spanning from Under 11 to 19 in the Junior Category and Over 30 to Over 70 in the Senior Category. Notably, the spotlight will be on the Open Events category, showcasing Men’s and Women’s Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles as the focal point of this grand annual event.
