The quarter-finals of the 32nd Singer-MCA Super Premier League 2025 produced two one-sided encounters, with Fairfirst Insurance and Hayleys ‘A’ powering their way into the semi-finals after comprehensive victories.

In the first quarter-final, Fairfirst Insurance outclassed BBK Partnership with both bat and ball. Batting first, Fairfirst piled on a massive 346/7, anchored by a spectacular innings from Sohan de Livera, who played a match-defining knock of 135 runs off just 95 balls, smashing 18 fours and 3 sixes. His aggressive strokeplay ensured Fairfirst had the upper hand right from the start.

Chasing a stiff target, BBK Partnership faltered against a disciplined Fairfirst bowling unit. Despite some resistance, they were bundled out for 200 runs. Dilum Sudeera (4/50) and Kalana Liyanage (3/50) led the charge with excellent spells, ensuring Fairfirst cruised to the semi-finals with a massive margin.

The second quarter-final witnessed another commanding display, this time from Hayleys ‘A’ against HNB ‘A’. Batting first, Hayleys amassed 341 runs, thanks to twin centuries from their top-order batters. Nishan Madushka played a composed innings of 126 runs off 113 balls with 7 fours and 6 sixes, while Ron Chandraguptha showcased his power-hitting with a brilliant 102 off 97 balls, decorated with 10 fours and 3 sixes.

Though Sithum Dissanayake (4 wickets) and Duvindu Ranathunga (4 wickets) bowled with heart for HNB, the Hayleys batting onslaught proved too much. In reply, HNB struggled to keep up with the required rate and were eventually dismissed for 252 runs. Janishka Perera top-scored with a fighting 79, but Hayleys’ bowling attack, spearheaded by Ravindu Fernando (5/33), proved too strong as they sealed their spot in the semi-finals with a clinical all-round performance.
