Hayleys Group ‘A’ secured their place in the final of the 32nd Singer-MCA Super Premier League 2025 with a dominant all-round performance against CDB ‘A’ in the second semi-final, played today (27th September) at the MCA Grounds, Colombo.
Asked to bat first, Hayleys posted a formidable 282 for 8 in 50 overs, built around a masterclass from skipper Ramesh Mendis, who produced a sensational knock of 153 off 137 deliveries, studded with 8 boundaries and 11 towering sixes.

He was well supported by wicket-keeper batter Minod Bhanuka, who chipped in with a brisk 50 off 44 balls, striking 3 fours and 4 sixes.
For CDB, the ambidextrous spinner Tharindu Rathnayake was the standout performer with the ball, claiming 3 for 36, while the rest of the attack struggled to contain Hayleys’ momentum.
In reply, CDB faltered under pressure and were bowled out for 219 runs. Kavishka Anjula spearheaded Hayleys’ bowling effort with a fiery spell of 4 for 28, dismantling the opposition’s batting order and ensuring there was no comeback.
The comprehensive 63-run victory means Hayleys Group ‘A’ will face Maiban Biscuits ‘A’ in the tournament final, setting the stage for a thrilling conclusion to this year’s competition.
