The 32nd Mercantile Services Basketball Association (MSBA) League 2024 showcased intense battles in the Women’s B and C divisions, highlighting the determination, skill, and sportsmanship of corporate basketball teams. Across all divisions, players delivered electrifying performances, thrilling fans with nail-biting finishes. 

C Division – Level 2: Standard Chartered Outlasts WSO2 

In a tightly contested match in the C Division – Level 2, Standard Chartered managed to edge past WSO2 in a hard-fought 45-39 victory. The game saw a fierce back-and-forth battle, with Standard Chartered maintaining a steady lead through each quarter. 

  • Quarter 1: WSO2 8 – Standard Chartered 17 
  • Quarter 2: WSO2 18 – Standard Chartered 24 
  • Quarter 3: WSO2 27 – Standard Chartered 37 
  • Quarter 4: WSO2 39 – Standard Chartered 45 

Despite a strong comeback from WSO2 in the final quarter, Standard Chartered held firm to secure the win. Hashini Ariyarathne of Standard Chartered was named the MVP, showcasing an outstanding individual performance that guided her team to victory. 

C Division – Level 1: IFS Triumphs in Overtime Against MAS Holdings 

In an exhilarating C Division – Level 1 matchup, IFS and MAS Holdings were neck-and-neck throughout regular time, resulting in an intense overtime session. The teams were tied at 29 points at the end of regulation, but IFS outclassed MAS Holdings in overtime to claim a 38-29 victory. 

  • Quarter 1: IFS 8 – MAS Holdings 8 
  • Quarter 2: IFS 17 – MAS Holdings 16 
  • Quarter 3: IFS 23 – MAS Holdings 24 
  • Quarter 4: IFS 29 – MAS Holdings 29 
  • Overtime: IFS 38 – MAS Holdings 29 

The standout player of the match, Gaganie Silva of IFS, was named the MVP for her crucial contributions in overtime that sealed the win for her team. 

B Division: Nations Trust Bank Overcomes David Peiris Group 

The Women’s B Division saw Nations Trust Bank (NTB) edge out David Peiris Group in a close 58-54 win. The game remained competitive throughout, with NTB pulling away in the third quarter. Despite a strong push from David Peiris Group in the final quarter, NTB’s early lead proved too much to overcome. 

  • Quarter 1: NTB 15 – David Peiris Group 11 
  • Quarter 2: NTB 27 – David Peiris Group 26 
  • Quarter 3: NTB 49 – David Peiris Group 32 
  • Quarter 4: NTB 58 – David Peiris Group 54 

Niroshini Paiva of NTB took home the MVP title, delivering a stellar performance that helped her team secure the narrow victory.
