Isipathana College are struggling at the hands of Maliyadeva College in a group ‘B’ fixture at Kurunegala today, 17th January, while Nalanda College host President’s College in another tournament game of the Singer U19 Division-One Cricket Tournament.

The boys from the rock capital of Sri Lanka won the toss and put the visitors to bat first. Explosive opener, Thevindu Dickwella produced another blistering half-century at the top of the order and failed once again to convert it to a big-knock. No other batsman was able to get their act together as Isipathana settled to another painful 163. Vidath Batepola and Maduranga Naveen both bagged 4 wickets each.

Maliyadeva in reply, got off to a flying start though they lost the first wicket early. Supun Sumanarathna and Kaveen Bandara joined then and took Maliyadeva College to a commanding position. Both the batsmen brought up unbeaten centuries as Maliyadeva College were at 221 runs at close of play.

Nalanda College made a massive 301 runs after being invited to bat first by the visitors. The two current youth international players delivered it to their alma mater as Chamindu Wijesinghe and Raveen de Silva made 89 and 78 runs respectively. Kasun Malinda picked up 2 wickets for 44 runs.
President’s College, Kotte were at 44 run for the loss of one wicket at close of play.
