St. Benedict’s College and Lyceum International School Wattala get wins on the 4th Day of the ‘Group B’ matches played at The Papare Basketball Championships 2018 held today ( 28th), at S. Thomas’ College – Mount Lavinia.
De La Salle College vs St. Benedict’s College
De La Salle took possession early with confident 3 pointers. Kicking things off in their favor, St. Benedict’s took advantage of the skimpy defense. De La Salle was behind by one point at the end of the first quarter. The game turnover came when the second quarter was called to play. Nisith Perera and Shimel Hewage put on a stunning show making most baskets for St. Benedict’s College.
First half ended with St. Benedicts in the lead 28 – 17.
With an unsettled defensive plan De La Salle was only able to collect the next few points from free throws. S. Rukshan completed most shots for De La Salle. St. Benedict’s College played a well executed game. Score Read: 54 – 38.
Lyceum International School Wattala vs. Zahira College
Lyceum International School Wattala took it easy in the start of the game, until Zahira College gave a strong fight to conclude the first quarter just one point short. Lyceum set off strong in defense in the second quarter, allowing the Zahira players to score only 3 baskets.
First half ends with Lyceum in front at 34 – 17.
The second half commenced with a golden chase from Zahira College, but could not manage to hold onto the streak. Lyceum confidently managed to add on a lead on the fast track from the very onset. Even though Zahira College tried to creep in a few baskets, the Lyceum defense continued to hold strong. The terminal quarter was not in favor of Zahira College who gifted away some worn out passes. Lyceum International School Wattala grabbed hold of an easy win, with the final score reading 73 – 48.
