Six-time national tennis champion and veteran Amrita Muttiah claims that winning a medal at the South Asian Games was one of the greatest honors she has achieved in her career thus far, as the country went on to grab six bronze medals, placing them behind India in the overall medal tally.

The Sri Lankan tennis team participated in the South Asian Games after a lapse of 21 years and being able to secure six bronze medals was indeed a celebrative achievement. Amrita lead the Lankan contingent and alongside Harshana Godamanne won the bronze in the Mixed Doubles and then teamed up with Medhira Samarasinghe to win bronze in the Women’s Doubles later on.
