    Vijayabahu Infantry Regimental Center in Boyagane, Kurunegala will host the “Vijayabahu Motor Cross 2016” on the 26th of June 2016.

    Vijayabahu Motor Cross was introduced and is conducted with the purpose of giving the local riders much needed exposure and a chance to hone their skills in an international track while also serving as a much needed fund raiser for the extensive welfare of families of the fallen heroes and maimed sons of the regiment.  With a proposal made by the Sri Lanka Racing Riders Association (SLRRA) and the leadership of the then President of Sri Lanka Army Motor Sports Committee, a unique track was constructed to the highest international standards in the regimental camp premises and has assisted many a local rider improve their riding skills.

    Past years have seen the Island’s most prolific riders and International riders thrill the crowds at the unique track where the spectators can view the full 1.9km course from anywhere in the spectator viewing area. International riders from Japan and India have always had high praise for the track describing it as one of the most challenging they have encountered internationally.

    This year’s event has lost some spark as a number of leading local riders in the likes of Gayan Sadaruwan, Shanuka Sadaruwan & Shehan Adhikari are missing out due to injury. All eyes will be on the ‘new kid on the block’ Ishan Dassanayake, who has taken the tracks of the country by storm this season, winning 04 consecutive titles so far. The event is sure to be a treat to watch come Sunday with the race track promising to produce some thrilling competition, providing racing enthusiasts with uncompromising views of the action.
