Ranjit Fernando kept wickets and opened the batting for Sri Lanka in the first-ever World Cup in 1975. He even represented Ceylon/Sri Lanka in the pre-Test era.

Fernando served Sri Lanka as a Coach, Selector, and Manager. Most recently, he was involved in cricket broadcasting as a Commentator.
