The two other awards (Highest try scorer and Highest points scorer) was based on the player’s performance on the field.

Having missed out on the highest try scorer for the season by two tries, the prolific winger from St. Joseph’s College, Sachith Silva managed to bag the highest points scorer award for the 2017 season.

Astonishingly he managed his tally of 110 points in just 7 matches, been a bench warmer at the beginning of the season.

Hamza Reeza (Highest try scorer)
Manager – Rugby, Saabir Cader handing Hamza Reeza his award

His kicking ability came in handy and along with his finishing, crossing the white wash on 12 occasions, converting 16 tries and knocking over 6 penalties, Silva impressed from the moment he was thrown into the playing fold and makes us wonder, ‘what if he played all 10 matches’.

It was Hamza Reeza who stepped up, scoring more than a dozen tries (14), being named as the highest try scorer this season in 10 matches. Chamodh Fernando missed out narrowly falling short by one try.
