Suresh Subramaniam who was Secretary General of the Asian..

Subramaniam has made great contributions to the Sri Lanka Tennis community both locally and internationally. He has taken Sri Lanka Tennis a step forward in premiership in the Asian and South Asian Tennis regions and plays a key role in the local tennis proceedings as well.

“I am pleased to learn that my dear friend, Suresh, has decided to offer his services to the NOC in Sri Lanka and is going to contest the election for the post of President. I wish Suresh great success and I am confident that he will be able to add to the vision of the members of the NOC to take Sri Lanka sports to greater heights.” – Anil Khanna (President – ATF | Vice-President – ITF)

If appointed Subramanium will look at five key focus areas:

  1. Aggressively support the National Federation to help Sri Lankan Athletes perform well in the commonwealth/Asian games.
  2. On the basis of merit, handpick a few sports and encourage their national federations with every possible support to achieve glory at the 2020 Olympic Qualifiers/Medal events.
  3. Support National Federations by helping them hire foreign coaches and sending deserving athletes for overseas training to the world’s best training centers.
  4. Support National Federations to develop their indigenous coaches’ pool and help train them under the most competitive educational environment.
  5. Maintain high levels of accountability and transparency at all levels to root out any possibility of slowing down the growth process.

To take Sri Lanka higher on the world’s sporting map, the following would be my focus areas:

To develop athletes, coaches and administrations alike while strengthening the sports federations financially. Appoint well-known philanthropists and businessmen to support sponsorships and provide office and administrative facilities to all sporting federations in the country; closing out with linking all federations to a centralized NOC platform.
