The Sri Lanka Navy Water Polo team will leave to Kuwait on the 8th of March to take part in the 9th Asian club championship.

The Sailors, who won the league championship last year, were the most suited team to take part in the tournament according to the Sri Lanka Aquatic and swimming committee and the Olympic committee. The Olympic committee had received an invitation from the Kuwait swimming association regarding the tournament.

The Sri Lanka Navy contingent will be led by Yahan Samarajeewa and he will be assisted by Savith Warnapura.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from the 9th to the 13th of March with 12 club teams listed to take part in the competition.

Malaka Chandrasa and Dinesh Jayananda will accompany the team as coaches while Lieutenant Commander Suranga Paranavitana has been appointed as the team manager.

This is the first time that a local club team would be participating in an international club tournament according to sources.
