Gurukula and St. Peter’s advance to quarter-finals in the Singer U19 Limited overs tournament as they beat Maris Stella and St. Aloysius in the pre-quarter finals.
Skipper Ashen Bandara won the toss and opted to bat first on a decent Moors surface. Sasindu Nanayakkara is the only half-centurion as the lads from Aloysius were content to settle for a fighting 201/8 in their 50 overs. Right-arm seamer Santhush Gunathilaka was impressive with the ball after a successful Joe-Pete encounter in the weekend as he took 3 crucial wickets for the Peterites.
In reply, the Peterites were 66 for 3 after 20 overs but skipper Gunathilaka and experienced Salith Fernando scored valuable half-tons to guide the lads from Bambalapitiya to the Limited overs quarter finals.
