Singer Schools Rugby Awards 2017 will be held on the 25th of January at the Bishop’s College Auditorium commencing at 2.30 pm. The awards will be for the performances of the concluded 2017 Singer Schools’ Rugby season.
There will be a total of four awards to be presented at the event;
- Most Outstanding player of the Season
- Highest Try Scorer of the League
- The Best Place Kicker of the League
- The Most Popular Player of the League
The most Outstanding player is picked through a criterion chosen by the SLR where the average of the total points scored by a player along with the impact of the player for his team is taken into consideration.
The 2017 Singer Rugby League concluded with Royal College Colombo winning the League title. Isipathana College and Trinity College finished in 2nd and 3rd respectively. It was one of the best seasons in the schools Rugby arena with some excellent performances by teams and as well as individuals catching the eye.
Some names that stood out in the concluded season are in the highest caliber as most were given first choice recognition at club level after the school season. Dinuk Amerasinghe, Chamod Fernando, Diluksha Dange, Yuzran Lantra, Sumudu Rankothge are some of those players with many more players at hand.
