Sampath at the helm of Trinity

Former D. S. Senanayke College cricketer and coach Sampath Perera will be the Head Coach of Trinity College for the upcoming inter school cricket season.

Sampath Perera learnt his cricket at D. S. Senanayake College where he played for the senior team from 1989 to 1994 and led the side in his last year.

He was a member of the Sri Lanka Under 19 team and also was in the final thirty of the Sri Lanka “A” team in 1998 during the England “A” tour of Sri Lanka.

Sampath first played for Bloomfield Cricket & Athletic Club as a top order batsman from 1994-1999 and was in Australia from 1999 to 2000 where he played for Burwood Cricket Club in Melbourne.

In coaching he got through the Level One Examination conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket in 2001, and the Level Two examination conducted by the Australian Cricket Board in 2003.

In 2007 got through the Level Two coaching examination conducted by Australian Cricket Board held in MCG.

In 2010 he got through the Level Three high performance coaching examination conducted by Australian Cricket Board held in Brisbane.

He was the coach of SSC in 2003 – 2004 and NCC 2006 – 2008 in the Under 23 tournament and from 1999 to 2008 he coached his old school D.S. Senanayake College.
