St. Peters College Bambalapitiya juniors ran over the lads from Zahira College Maradana, as they managed to record easy wins in both U16 and U14 matches. Both games ended with similar scores,  30 points to nil in favour of the Peterites.

The U14 game kicked off at 2pm with both teams starting the first game of the season so far. However, it was St. Peter’s who had the upper hand in both handling and skill and they were the far better team on the day as they scored one after the other to damper the hopes of Zahira.

Peterites’ runners were on another level as they ran around the defenders to dive over the try line and when necessary they were physical barging through the defence. At the end it was all St. Peter’s as they finished the first game of the season 30 points to nil.

The U16 game too yielded the same results as the U14 game with St. Peter’s winning 30 points to nil. However, this game was a much more exciting game. Although silly handling mistakes were made by both teams the game went on at a higher note and pace. Here too the Peterites dominated from the on-set. Almost every set piece yielded a try for the Peterites and the gap exploitation by their runners was brilliant to watch.

The week will end on Monday with four junior matches taking place in Colombo and Kandy between St. Joseph’s and S. Thomas’ in Colombo and St. Anthony’s and Trinity in Kandy in both U16 and U14.
