The fixtures of the New Zealand tour of Sri Lanka 2019 have been revised, ThePapare.com learns.

New Zealand Test squad for Sri Lanka announced

The two Test matches will be played as scheduled before but the fixtures of the three T20Is have been changed. The two Test matches will be played as part of the ICC World Test Championship, which was launched on the 1st of August with The Ashes. 

All three T20Is will be played in Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium with the first two games being shifted from R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium. 

Initially the first two T20Is were planned to be played on the 31st August and 2nd September in Colombo. However as per the new schedule, the first two matches will now be played on the 1st and 3rd of September with the third and final remain unchanged on the 6th of September. 

Thilan Samaraweera to join New Zealand coaching staff

The visitors, New Zealand are currently number two in Test rankings and number six in T20I rankings, while the hosts Sri Lanka sit on the sixth and eighth spots in Tests and T20Is respectively.

The revised schedule

  • 8th to 10th August – Three-day Tour match – Marians Cricket Grounds, Katunayake
  • 14th to 18th August – 1st Test match – Galle International Cricket Stadium
  • 22nd to 26th August – 2nd Test match – P. Sara Oval, Colombo
  • 29th August – T20 warm-up match – Marians Cricket Grounds, Katunayake
  • 1st September – 1st T20I match – Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium, Kandy
  • 3rd September – 2nd T20I match – Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium, Kandy
  • 6th September – 3rd T20I match – Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium, Kandy
