Science College took Prince of Wales College to the cleaners, running in eleven tries to record a 69-03 win in the school’s rugby league game played at Longdon Place.

Science College number 8. Munasinghe scored a twenty-two-minute hat trick following kick off by Prince of Wales fullback Nalin Tharanga on a gloomy and cloudy evening. Center Madumadawa converted just one of the first three tries as Science pulled clear from the onset. (SC 17-00 POW)

The lads from Mount Lavinia registered their bonus point try in as early as the 30th minute of the game as flanker Fernando dived over the whitewash following some sturdy build up play by fellow forwards. Flyhalf Mudalige failed to add the extras. (SC 22-00 POW)

Prince of Wales’ inexperience showed as Science continued to dominate with wave after wave of attack.

Prop forward Sandalanka put the finishing touch to a near perfect first half for Science College as the mobile front row man scored his team’s fifth try of the match besides the upright. Madumadawa made no mistake adding the extras. (SC 29-00 POW)

With the first half on the brink of ending, the lads from Moratuwa made a final dash toward the try line, only for a knock-on in the build-up to cut their attack short and put an end to a miserable first half.

The second half was more of the same as the lads from Mount Lavinia ran in six further tries leaving Prince of Wales licking their wounds.

Madumadawa scored either side of a penalty from Nalin Tharanga as Prince of Wales disturbed the scores for the first time in the game. Fonseka added a John Eales like conversion as Madumadawa himself converted his second from the fifteen-meter line. (SC 43-03 POW)

The lads from Moratuwa were made to look like kids as tries kept coming at a rapid pace. Winger Dassanayake got into the act as he ran into score, displaying his potent finishing skills. Madumadawa failed to add the extras. (SC 48-03 POW)

Prop forward Sandalanka doubled his try tally as replacement Dikkubura got into the act with a scintillating one of his own to take Science past the fiftieth point mark. Hansaja and Kosala converted the ninth and tenth try respectively. (SC 62-03 POW)

Madumadawa capped off an impressive performance with his hat trick as he became the second player to score three tries. Kosala converted as the game drew to a close and put the lads from Prince of Wales out of their misery. (SC 69-03 POW)
