Kulasekara Entertains before the Youngsters give SLDev a Solid Start

Upcoming youngsters Kusal Janith Perera and Shehan Jayasuriya continued their brilliant batting form as they took the Sri Lanka Development XI to a strong position at the end of day 2 in the 4-day game versus the Sri Lanka Board XI played at the Ovel (P Sara).

Perera (70*) and Jayasuriya (56*) put up century stand in no time and finished the day with the SLDev XI 129/0. This was after the SL Board XI amassed a massive total of 575.

Earlier in the day, Sri Lanka Board XI resumed from their overnight total of 352/5. Skipper Angelo Mathews fell early in the day for 36 and followed by Thisara Perera after a quick fire 32. Next batsman, Nuwan Kulasekara, played an entertaining innings of 75 runs of 90 balls which included 4 sixes.

While at the other end, overnight batsman Prasanna Jayawardena anchored the innings while keeping the scoreboard ticking. He was dropped on 91 by Niroshan Dickwella before completing a patient century. Jayawardena (105*) finally ran out of partners as the Board XI was finally bowled out for 575. Shaminda Eranga was the pick of the bowlers picking up 4 wickets while M. Pushpakumara bagged 2 wickets after toiling for 44 overs.
