India internationals KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya have been handed suspensions with immediate effect by the BCCI pending an inquiry following their controversial comments made recently in a talk-show. The duo will now return home from Australia with the board expected to name their replacements for the limited overs leg of the ongoing tour and the New Zealand series.

Once the players return home, they will have seven days to explain why proceedings shouldn’t be made against them for misconduct and indiscipline under Rule 41 of the BCCI Constitution.
Under the rule, the players have been barred from participating in any match, event, function or activity that is authorised by the board, the ICC or any state association until final adjudication of the issue.
Both Rahul and Hardik appeared on the show ‘Koffee with Karan’ where the allrounder in particular made statements that caused outrage on social platforms for being misogynist in nature. Even though both the players responded to the notices sent by the board following the flak they received, the BCCI confirmed that an enquiry and proceedings will be made against them for misconduct and indiscipline.
