CRC ready to take on the Indian Challenge

Colombo Rowing club, the premier rowing club of the Island is well prepared to take on the visiting Madras Rowing club at the Madras Colombo Regatta to be held at the Colombo rowing club on the 25th June 2016 from 01.00pm onwards.

This year the local team will comprise of a well-balanced outfit led by Shehan Muthugala and will look to out row their Indian counterparts. The team consists of  youth and experience with eight oarsmen making their debut for CRC in the regatta.

Speaking to ThePapare.com captain of the CRC team Shehan Muthugala added “we have a good team and we are confident of giving a good fight, the lads from Madras are going to be tough but we will give our best to overcome them in our own backyard” also commenting on the composition of the team he stated that “we have an enthusiastic set of rowers a which includes 8 fresher’s. But a lot will be expected from the 5 experienced Oarswomen who were part of the ladies team that white- washed the Indians in January. We are hoping that they will be able to repeat that performance”.

This year’s regatta will consist of 13 races which will include 8 men’s, 4 women’s and 1 Masters Event and will offer an action packed evening for all the rowing enthusiasts. So come in numbers to support the Islands best when they take on their tradition rivals this Saturday (26th June) at the Colombo Rowing Club.
