First seed Avindra Perera defended his crown, getting the better out of second seeded Vibuda Wijebandara in the Boys Under 18 Singles final of the 102nd National and Junior National Tennis Championships.
He defeated Vibuda Wijebandara 6-3 6-2 to claim the U18 crown.
Perera’s road to the final was an easy one as he defeated all his opponents with relative comfort without dropping a single set.
Wijebandara on the other hand, who had it all his way in the first few rounds, was made to work in the quarter final against Innthujan Selverathnaraja. Vibuda dropped the first set but managed to secure the win, with a fighting second and third set win.
The final was a one-sided affair as Avindra made easy work of his opponent winning the game in straight sets.
Meanwhile Innthujan Selverathnaraja & Udayachandra Srinath will play it out against Nuwantha Dissanayaka & Praneel Jasinghe in the Boys Under 18 Doubles final today at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association Courts.
