The 4th Annual Thomians’ Schools Hockey 7s Tournament was worked off at the Edwards Park grounds, Matale on the 3rd June. After a wet Sunday evening of scintillating hockey, the crown jewel was a joint victory.

28 teams came together in Matale to battle it out for the top position, but with unfavourable weather conditions, St. Thomas’s College, Matale and Joseph Vaz from Wennapuwa shared victory of the A.J Wijesinghe Memorial Trophy after the final was called off.

3rd place went to St. Aloysius College from Galle, possessing the C.K Hulangamuwa Memorial Trophy. Former ‘Asian Hockey Star’ & Old Thomian Ranjith Wijekoon Challenge Trophy went to B.T.S Bandara of host school St. Thomas’ College, Matale for winning the Player of the tournament title.

HNB and Commercial register wins in A Division

HNB ‘A’ and Commercial Bank Win Hatton National Bank ‘A’ and Commercial Bank……….

Piumantha Gunasena of St. Thomas’ College, Matale was awarded the most promising and upcoming player of the tournament winning the Dampiya Wanasinghe Challenege Trophy.

The M. Maheshrathnam Challenge Trophy awarded to the Best Goal Keeper went to Nilakshana Amantha Silva of Joseph Vaz, Wennapuwa.
