The 50th TB Jayah School Boxing Tournament 2018 will be held from 18th October to the 21st October 2018 at St. Sylvester’s College, Kandy Boxing Hall. The matches will commence at 4.00pm on the respective game days.
The TB Jayah School Boxing Tournament was inaugurated in the year of 1969. The tournament was held forbidding the participation of Schools Stubbs Shield and Junior National Champions, with the hope of giving Novice School boxers the opportunity to participate and win some silverware.
Vidyananda Vidyalaya, Mulathiv will be taking part in the tournament as the defending champions.
The tournament that is conducted annually by the Schools Boxing Association, is an open tournament for new schoolboy boxers who have only fought in Inter House Boxing Meet and the LV Jayaweera School Boxing tournament.
The School Boxing Association plans to conduct this tournament with three age categories namely Schools (13-14 years), Junior (15-16 years) and Youth (17-18 Years) age divisions.
Below are the weight categories:
School boys Division – 33-35, 35-37, 37-39, 39-41,41-43 and 43-45 Kg,
Junior boys Division – 44-46, 46-48, 48-50, 50-52 and 52-54 Kg
Youth Boys Division – 46-49, 49- 52, 52-56, 56-60 and 60-64 Kg
The Gold, Silver and Bronze medal winners of this Tournament will qualify to take part
In the prestigious Stubbs Shield Boxing Championships and National School Games.
