102nd Joes-Trinity evenly poised after day one

 St. Josephs College Colombo played host to Trinity College Kandy during their 102nd encounter at Darely road today.

 The home team under the captaincy of Sachin Hewawasam won the toss and elected to bat first. They managed to sneak pass the 200 run mark being all out for 202 runs in 65 over’s. Skipper Hewawasam led from the front scoring a superb 50 while Dilan Fernandopulle, Damith Weerasinghe, and Pathum Madushanka all chipped in with scores of 28, 22 and 21* respectively. 

For the Lions, captain Dinuk Wickramanayake stood out with his slow right arm offies, ending with figures of 4/26. Spinners dominated at Darley Road, as left arm orthodox bowlers Lakshan Jayasinghe and Charith shared 5 wickets between them.

Trinity in reply to the Josephian first innings score were 92 for the loss of 3 wickets in 22 over’s. 

Ron Chandraguptha and Lakshitha Dissanayake both ended with 27 runs for Trinity while Vice captain Rajitha Jayatunga showed positive signs with the bat ended unbeaten on 16* runs. In the bowling department, Skipper Hewawasam, Flabian Fernando and Moditha Weerasinghe all grabbed a wicket apiece.
