The Emerging Teams Asia Cup is an exciting tournament which will see eight Asian teams in action for the fourth time.

The Test-playing countries, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and hosts Bangladesh will field their emerging teams, which need to include at least eleven under 23 players (from the 15 in the squad). The Associate countries, UAE, Hong Kong and Oman are eligible to field their national sides.

Apart from Asalanka and Mendis, the national selectors have also chosen plenty of young, impressive stars in Pathum Nissanka, Hasitha Boyagoda, Ashen Bandara and Sammu Ashan while wicket-keeper batsman Minod Bhanuka, who had a memorable debut series with the national team in Pakistan has also been included for this 10-day tournament.
