Bangladesh Emerging team’s (Ban-E) 4th wicket partnership reclaimed the dominance for the hosts on the 3rd day of the 2nd unofficial Test vs Sri Lanka Emerging team (SL-E) at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium, Cox’s Bazar.

The first two days were almost completely washed out and the hosts were 57 for 3 when Ban-E’s overnight batting pair Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Afif Hossain walked out to the middle to rescue them from the early collapse on day 02.

After only 23 overs being bowled in the first two days due to rain, play was started early today. Just 9 overs later, the players had to run towards the dressing room which turned out to be another long rain break as most of the day’s play was washed off again.

Bowlers put Sri Lanka on top after another rain-affected day

After about a 4-hour delay, the players returned and since then play was continued without any disturbances until the stumps.

Skipper Shanto who scored a magnificent century in the first unofficial Test at Khulna, led his side with an unbeaten partnership with Afif Hossain to put Ban-E in a strong position. So far, the pair has added a massive 187 runs for the 4th wicket after their early stutter at 21-3.

Hossain went on to make a stroke-filled century with 11 fours and 2 sixes and Shanto, uncharacteristically played the second fiddle to Hossain, contributed with a timely 88 runs before the umpires called for stumps.

The SL-E bowlers labored hard through out the day to no avail. Jehan Daniel and Mohammed Shiraz are the only wicket takers as they claimed 3 wickets on the second day. Ban-E are sitting quite comfortably at 208-3 and the game will certainly be another draw with only one day remaining in the match.
