19 Sri Lankan Players to do ICC Level III Coaching

The ICC Global Level III coaching course began at the Nondescripts Cricket Club premises today. This programme is being conducted in Sri Lanka for the first time.

The course conducted by the International Cricket Council (ICC) is organized by the Coach Education Unit of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).

The course educates 24 Sri Lankan coaches while 19 of them are former Sri Lanka national caps. Rangana Herath, Dhammika Prasad, Chamara Silva, Ajantha Mendis, Ravindra Pushpakumara, Chamila Gamage, Darshana Gamage, Jehan Mubarak, Gayan Wijekoon, Sajeewa De Silva, Sajeewa Weerakoon, Niroshan Bandaratilleke, Saman Jayantha, Muthumudalige Pushpakumara, Sachith Pathirana, Thilina Kandamby, Malinda Warnapura and Indika De Seram are the 19 former national players taking part in this programme.

New National Cricket Selection committee appointed

This 6-day course is conducted by the ICC coach educators Mr. Ziyaad Parker, Mr. Ashley Ross and Mr. Roland Lefebvre while Mr. Heshan De Mel, Head of Coach Education Unit of the SLC and Mr. Tharaka Samaratunga, Coach Educator of the SLC are facilitating the ICC to conduct this programme.

We are striving hard to build up a good coach base by introducing new programs into our coach education system, which will help us in developing talented coaches to unearth fresh talents from grassroots said Mr. Asanka Gurusinha, Chief Cricket Operations Officer of SLC, who is heading the High Performance Center.

SLC successfully completes Level 2 Coaching program

SLC also conducted a Level 2 coaching program recently which featured former national players of the likes of Rangana Herath, Dammika Prasad, Ajantha Mendis and Nuwan Kulasekara.
