Who would Champion 2014 ?

    106

From its inception, F1 has had drivers, manufacturers and privately owned teams along with component developers battling it out on track to be World Champions in the sport. Some of the notable manufacturers on grid for 2014 are Ferrari (who has been there from inception), Mercedes Benz and Lotus where some of the notable private teams are Redbull (champions for past 4 years), Williams and McLaren.

2014 also would see some of the top drivers fighting it out for the drivers’ championship. Four time winner Sebastian Vettal of Redbul, Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg for Mercedes and the experience hands of Jenson button for McLaren and Fillipe Massa for Williams could all come in to play.

We also cannot discount the lesser experienced or rookies who have proven themselves many a times before.  Daniel Ricciardo for Redbull (Who was in Sri Lanka for night races in December), Romain Grosjean for Lotus, Valtteri Bottas of Williams and Kevin Magnussen of McLaren are expected to perform good this season.

However, in F1, especially when a new season starts and most importantly one like 2014 where all is new to the sport, it would be foolish and tough to make predictions and to leave out the other teams. Sauber and Force India have made a lot of investments and shown much promise over the past seasons where it will be nice to see them battle at the front again with some experienced drivers such as Adrian Sutil, Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg .  The 2014 season also sees the return of Japanese driver Kamui Kobayashi with Caterham.
